SSC CHSL is a national exam that offers over 1600 vacancies. The exam takes place to recruit eligible candidates for various departments and offices of the Indian government.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2024 – Nationality
Nationality is an important parameter to make you eligible for the SSC CHSL exam.SSC is stringent when it comes to eligibility criteria, therefore all the candidate must have their proof of nationality, as they can reject your application based on inappropriate eligibility criteria. Here are the eligibility criteria for nationality-
- The candidate must have Indian citizenship OR
- Citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, OR
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st of January 1962 to permanently settle in India, OR
- Anyone who is an Indian origin and has migrated from East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Malawi, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Ethiopia, Zambia, Zaire, and Vietnam for settling in India is also eligible for appearing in SSC CHSL exam.
SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria- Age Limit
- SSC CHSL has decided on the age limit. According to it, the candidate appearing for the exam should have been born not earlier than 02 January 1995 and not later than 01 January 2004, both dates inclusive.
- The minimum age to apply for SSC CHSL is 18, and the maximum is 27.
- The candidates appearing for SSC CHSL 2023 must have completed 18 years as of 01 August 2022.
- There is certain age limit relaxation to reserved categories.
SSC CHSL- Relaxation in Age limit
SSC does provide certain relaxation to the reserved classes.
- OBC- 3 years
- SC/ST- 5 years
- PwD (UR)- 10 years
- PwD + OBC- 13 years
- PwD + SC/ST- 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen-03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.
SSC CHSL Qualification
Another important perimeter of SSC CHSL eligibility criteria is Qualification. Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualification required to appear for the SSC CHSL exam.
- Candidates appearing for SSC CHSL must have passed 12th from a recognized board. To be more specific, a candidate who has passed class 12th from any stream can appear for the SSC CHSL exam.
- To be eligible for Data Entry Operator in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG), the candidate must have passed 12th in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
- Candidates appearing for SSC CHSL must have passed class 12th. There is no such percentage requirement but must have a passing certificate from a recognized board.
SSC CHSL Eligibility: Physical Disability
The best part about SSC CHSL is that specially-abled people can also appear for the exam but has to follow parameters. Here are those parameters which the candidate(specially abled) must take into consideration before applying for the exam.
- Candidates with one arm or one leg affected, or one arm and one leg or both legs affected are eligible to apply for the Data entry operator.
- Candidates with low vision or hearing disability are also eligible to apply for the Data entry operator.
- Candidates with One Arm Affected (OA), Both Legs Affected (BL), One Leg Affected (OL), One arm and one leg affected (OAL) are eligible for Lower Division Clerk & Junior Secretariat Assistant.
- Candidates with Low vision, hearing disability, or blindness are eligible for Lower Division Clerk & Junior Secretariat Assistant.

There are two exams in SSC CHSL- Tier-1 and Tier-2.
- Tier 1 consists of multiple choice questions and is CBT.
- Tier 2 consists of Objective Multiple Choice + Skill Test & Typing Test. Tier II will have three sections having two modules each.

Syllabus for TIER -2
Tier -2 is a descriptive exam that tests your writing skills in Hindi and English. The paper asks you to write an essay of 200-250 words and a Letter/Application of approximately 150-200 words. The candidate needs to score at least 33%.
To prepare for the Tier 2 exam, one must have a habit of reading articles, and newspapers so that one can get exposure to many things and can write on various topics. Also don’t forget to practice letters and applications.
SSC CHSL preparation tips and tricks
- The first thing you need is to be mentally prepared so that you really have to do it. Stay motivated and be consistent throughout your journey.
- You need to clear your concepts in order to solve advanced questions. Take Ncerts of class 7th, 8th,9th, and 10th of mathematics and start solving them. It will help you understand the foundation of the topics.
- For English, read the newspaper daily and try to comprehend the passage. Also, learn 5-10 words daily with their synonyms and antonyms and use them in your life or while writing an essay.
- Eat nutritious food because your body will get exhausted.
- Practice mocks and know what you are lacking.
- Always make a weak routine and try to achieve them. For example – you have to complete algebra by the end of this week.
